Your class teacher is Mr Chesher
PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays
Children should wear their PE kit to school on PE days.
Welcome back year 4! Just one half term left and it will be a great final half term full of fantastic learning ahead of us.
In reading and writing, we are taking inspiration from 'The Worst Witch' by Jill Murphy. We will be writing a set of instructions explaining how to create a witch's potion, followed by an advertising leaflet for Miss Cackles academy for witchcraft.

Maths - Our learning this time is all about shapes, including different 2D shapes, angles and lines of symmetry. We are also studying statistics, where we will be reading and plotting information on line graphs. Finally, we will be learning how to plot points, shapes and translations on a grid.
Science - We will be studying the impact of some famous scientists, including Alexander Graham Bell, who is credited with the introduction of the telephone; Maria Telkes, a scientist who focused on solar powered technologies and Garrett Morgan, the inventor of the three-colour traffic light.
Geography - Our learning is focused on Physical features of countries, such as where rivers and mountains are found and formed within a country, and looking at the water cycle and the uses of rivers around the world.
Art - Creating digital art and studying how technology can be used alongside other mediums to create artwork.
French - We are learning about La maison Tudor, or the Tudors. We will be learning about the Tudor history in the French language, and learning a number of nouns, verbs and adjectives.
PSHE- We are learning about how to stay healthy and hygienic and medicine that can help, and the impact of drugs.
| Homework: Please try to ensure that your child reads each night, either alone or with an adult, and talk about what they have read. Make predictions about what might happen next. Any reading will ideally be recorded in their reading records. The date and signature from an adult is all that is needed. |

The multiplication tables check will be happening throughout the first week of term, so hopefully all children have been practicing their tables during the half term break.
Everyone on the year 4 team is looking forward to what should be a fantastic final half term with all of you!
| As a reminder, the school day begins at 8:20am, with activities like maths, handwriting or reading for the children. This also gives children the chance to come in and settle before we begin formal learning promptly at 8:40am. We are looking forward to an exciting half term with year 4! |
